The Foster Family History
Then & Now: 52 years of special event live music based in San Diego
Then:
Bonnie Foster is the fourth and youngest daughter of two very unique individuals, Marin Foster, and the late Wayne Foster, who enjoyed a magical, musical love story for 71 years. With seven decades of producing live music, Wayne and Marin earned the reputation as the masters of special event entertainment, producing engaging live musical experiences for special events.
Bonnie’s father, Wayne Foster, a totally blind since birth musician and entrepreneur, started playing an instrument at age 3 then graduated to the Piano and by his 12th birthday was winning cash and prize contests on TV and even played the piano at the White House, as a young blind musician.
Bonnie’s mother, Marin Foster, came into the picture when she was 16 and Wayne was 17. She met Wayne in New York where Wayne was playing in his band. Marin went up to Wayne on a dare and touched his hand (he could not see Marin due to his being totally blind)….without a flinch Wayne immediately responded to Marin's touch by gently placing his hand on top of hers and at that moment they both say that they knew they would be together forever, and they practically were.
Wayne arranged music lessons for Marin in New York City and soon Marin was a very important and talented part of the act. Their band, Wayne Foster Music, was hired for society parties, at country clubs and for inaugurations at the White House. They experienced much success in New York, got married, had four daughters and in 1972 decided to move to San Diego, California for better weather.
They started over in 1972, basing their business out of Southern California, as they built their client list and fan club one party at a time. They brought the East Coast Big Band leaders’ style out to California, like Lester Lanin and Peter Duchin, producing live musical entertainment for all types of special events. Their four daughters all learned music and became part of the act and subsequently part of the inner workings of the family business.
Now
In 2013, Bonnie Foster started branding her own company, @BonnieFosterProductions, incorporating the golden nuggets learned from decades of experience from the family business, while adding her contemporary twist, and immediately expanded internationally. Bonnie Foster Productions has played for Royalty in France and England, and alongside celebrity name acts locally such as Michael Bublé, David Foster & Catherine McPhee, who were hired by BFP for a private, milestone birthday celebration at the Del Mar Country Club.
Bonnie Foster Productions’ music is upbeat, melodic, familiar and filled with positive lyrics that appeals to all ages and cultures, ranging from classic favorites to pop hits, with lyrics in almost any language.
BFP is the official legacy brand of Wayne Foster Music, with THREE GENERATIONS currently collaborating to make every party exceptional:
Gen 1: Marin Foster, Bonnie’s mother, is the Queen Brand Ambassador for BFP, recruiting talent and sharing priceless wisdom.
Gen 2: Susan Foster, Bonnie’s oldest sister, is the Preferred Venue Liaison for BFP for 5 Star venues & country club where BFP frequently performs. She also plays percussion and piano.
Gen 3: Samantha Nicole (Bonnie’s daughter) manages Social Media channels and keeps an eye on new music to add to the repertoire, while currently recording her first Country album.
Bonnie Foster and her entourage are flown all over the world to help people celebrate with live music, and on Monday Nov 25th they’ll be at the Belly Up in Solana Beach, celebrating Ranch & Coast Magazine’s 60 years, as well as other fellow legacy SD Businesses and the San Diego Community that supports San Diego legacy brands.
