Described as a “musical force”, “one heck of a singer”, and as someone who “sings with the depth and mojo of a woman twice her age” you might not expect such a voice to come in such a small (yet very exuberant) package. Whitney Shay is a soulful vocalist and entertainer based in San Diego, California. Since age three, she’s been onstage performing and dazzling audiences. Whitney made the leap from acting and singing in theatrical productions to belting blues & jazz in 2009; when she began swing dancing and couldn’t get enough of the soulful tunes that kept her groovin’. Since then she’s been in high demand, singing at a myriad of venues performing more than 200 shows per year. Some performance highlights include: the Mississippi Delta Blues Festival, Doheny Blues Festival, Gator By The Bay Festival, San Diego Blues Festival, San Diego Film Awards, and the San Diego Music Awards.
Whitney Shay has been nominated by the San Diego Music Awards for Best Blues Artist, and for Best Live Performer. Her debut album Soul Tonic, which received radio airplay & praise both domestically and internationally, was also nominated for Best Blues Album. Following this success Whitney Shay launched her international touring career in 2015 singing Rhythm & Blues in Brazil with acclaimed Brazilian Blues guitarist Igor Prado and his band. Her high energy and great passion for soulful music is contagious and audiences find her absolutely irresistible.
